I began my foray into fabric, sewing and knitting when I lived just outside of Melbourne, Australia in 2009. The resurgence in craft culture was in full swing there at that time and the slow living and art – making movement was also gaining traction. I started sewing into my paintings but soon realized that that was not the right direction for me. I became enamoured with sewing and various textile artists I was following. I fell in love with patchwork and began what was to be an 8 year project that was brought to fruition in 2017 for Canada’s 150th in an exhibition at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum titled, ‘The I, Canada Project’. Since that time, I have continued to work with my favourite patchwork techniques which now includes both hanging textiles pieces, and sculptural creations.
