My first love was painting, then drawing. I specialized in drawing and painting as a student at OCAD. My work has always emanated from personal perspectives, choosing subject matter that was close to my heart, that allowed me to work out difficult thoughts and feelings on the surface I was creating. It became clearer to me, over time, that when we examine ourselves, we are also experiencing the collective. We humans are all connected. We share similar hardships and joys on this journey called life. Our differences must be part of this togetherness.
In my most recent work – see the gallery titled, ‘Farm’- it is in expressive landscape painting that I find my voice. Moving to the country has expanded and solidified my connection the world within and outside of myself.
